The song “Praise You in This Storm” has woven its way into the hearts of many of the youth here in Ikelenge over the New Year season. During the New Year program with the youth, the song showed up twice in messages by two very different people who didn’t collaborate about it at all!
The first time it showed up was after a message which was given to the youth as we geared up for the New Year. The message focused on the word “Increase”. How that:
- Useless talk among people will “increase”, eating people up – 2 Timothy 2:15-19
- Evil men and seducers shall “increase”, deceiving and being deceived – 2 Timothy 3:12-13
BUT, in the face of all this increase of wickedness and persecution of truth, “the Lord knows those that are His”, and a believer is to “depart from iniquity” (2 Timothy 2:19) by:
- Allowing the Lord to “increase” our love towards believers and all men – 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13
- Choosing to “increase” our love towards all – 1 Thessalonians 4:9-10
- “Increase” in the knowledge and fellowship of God – Colossians 2:18-19
The conclusion of the message was that for an unbeliever, this time is getting more and more difficult as deception is on the rise and there is no escape! However, for a believer, we have hope and know that even among the wickedness, among the deception, among the suffering and pain, the Lord is our hope and is with us through it all. He is the one who we can rely on to increase our love, knowledge and fellowship with Him and other believers in this ever darkening world.
To finish the message we listened to the song “Praise You in This Storm”.
Later on in the evening, one of our members shared a video she’d created. She has been through a lot of illness and struggles recently and created the video as a thank you for those of us who had helped and encouraged her through the times. The first song in the video which was playing over top of the pictures being showed was “Praise You in This Storm”!
Here are the lyrics as posted by www.musixmatch.com
Praise You in This Storm
by Casting Crowns
I was sure by now
God, You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
And once again
I say, “A-men” and it’s still rainin’But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I’ll raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes awayChorus:
And I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this stormI remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry, You raised me up again
But my strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You?But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I’ll raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes awayChorus:
And I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this stormI lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The maker of heaven and earth
(I lift my eyes unto the hills)
(Where does my help come from?)Chorus:
And I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
Though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this stormAnd though my heart is torn
(Though my heart is torn)
I’ll praise You in this storm
(Praise You in this storm)
We trust the song is an encouragement to you also and a reminder of what hope there is found in the Lord Jesus Christ.
